A protest on underage Hindu girl marriage and forced conversion

KARACHI: Yesterday Sindh High Court's decision on forced conversion to Islam and marriage to a Muslim man of a Hindu underage girl made disappointed to religious minorities once again which is a sign of insecurity for them.

A Muslim man Riaz Sial got married with a Hindu girl Angeli Maghward after making her convert to Islam.

Parents of the girl filed complaint that she was minor and forcibly converted to Islam for marriage.
Father of the Hindu girl Kundan Maghward objected in court that his daughter is just 12 years old too young for marriage and she is minor.

The Division Bench of Sindh High Court consisting of Mr. Justice Sajad Ali Shah and Mr.Justice Saadiq Hussain heard the case and gave verdict to hand over the girl to Riaz after making it sure that he has his own residence and security arrangements for the girl. The court also ordered to discharge the pending case of kidnap against Riaz.

Kundan Maghward , father of the Hindu girl , said that he was disappointed on this decision of the Court . He further added that they were too poor to appeal in Supreme Court.

"We don't have any issues with a person who converts to another faith out of free will and get married with free consent, but when someone is abducted, forcibly converted and married then it is difficult to keep quiet and silence of the women’s and human rights activists in this regard is a sinful act "said Advocate Sardar Mushtaq Gill,Human Rights Defender.
