The women of religious minorities are
easy target of violence in the form of physical torture particularly against
Christians, in general, is increasing in Pakistan since after 9/11 incident.
The issue of prejudice arises in a country where the Christians are a small
minority in Pakistan ;
they represent only 1.6% of the 180 million Pakistanis 96% Muslims.An unforgettable incident which occurred just a few weeks ago, there was international outrage after a Christian
husband and wife in Pakistan were beaten and burnt alive to death for allegedly
desecration of the Koran. The Christian
woman, Shama Bibi, already a mother of three, was four months pregnant at that time.Recently one man requested Advocate Sardar Mushtaq Gill,Human Rights Defender for the support their children and also for the role of LEAD for legal assistance in this case.
We at LEAD request you all to stand with us for the women rights in Pakistan and to defend the women victim of physical torture and support us in this cause.
