Kidnapping, forced conversion and forced marriage torment Christian family

KASUR: A 15-year-old Christian girl (Saima Bibi) was allegedly kidnapped while she was alone at home. The family lodged a complaint in Police Station Kotradha Kishan and a case FIR No.8/2016 under section 365-B PPC has been registered against the alleged abductors.

The incident happened at Chak No.59 where a Christian couple was burned alive after levelling the false accusations of desecration of Quranic pages against them. The case of the Christian couple is  still pending in anti-terrorism trial court Lahore.

The Police produced the Christian girl before Area Magistrate,Kasur for recording of the statement  of the victim because the Police have been told that she has married after converting to Islam with a Muslim man Tanvir alias Matho, her kidnapper and she recorded her statement in favour of her kidnapper and case FIR has been quashed without considering her birth certificate which shows the victim is a minor girl.

This is the legal process which is being adopted  by the Punjab Police to facilitate the kidnappers if they come to know that the girl is Christian and she is converted to Islan. The kidnappers saved their skin from abduction and rape changes. In the same way,in this case happened.

To target Christian girls in this way is a pleasurable activity for Muslim of Pakistan who wins sympathy of other Muslims by telling them that he has converted Christian girl to Islam who consider it a good deed in Islamic way of life.

"We demand from Pakistani authorities to take serious the issue of Christian girl's forced conversion to Islam for marriages. It is time urgent to legislate on forced conversion", said Sardar Mushtaq Gill,Human Rights Defender who heads LEAD.

He added that we are making plan to approach the Supreme Court of Pakistan for redressing the grievances of religious minorities of the Country.

He further added that Religious minorities of the country know that they have no voice from Provincial Assembly to National Assembly because of the present selection system which proves that Pakistan is not democratic country in true senses and failed to grant democratic rights to religious minorities of Pakistan.

We at LEAD provide free legal assistance and advocacy to those victims of religious discrimination and sexual and domestic violence who can not afford to bear heavy legal cost of counsels and our request to stand with us and support the cause for which we are fighting.
