A Pakistani Muslim Landlord recapture a Christian woman who escaped from his clutches

KASUR:  Fouzia Sadiqe, a Christian woman was living with her parents when she was kidnapped by her family's Muslim landlord and was forced to marry him after converting her to Islam last year in July. This year on March 8,2016,she had managed to escape a horrible ordeal which lasted for eight months and reached to LEAD for justice and safety along with her mother.

Sardar Mushtaq Gill,Human rights Defender who heads LEAD immediately took legal initiative and first filed a jactitation suit at family court,Lahore in which next date of hearing has been fixed April 5 and secondly filed a petition in Additional and session judge,Lahore for registration of criminal case against the Landlord and his accomplices in which she was appeared and next date of hearing was fixed for March 21.She was also staying at home of Mr.Gill due to her being life in grave danger. Her mother asked to Mr.Gill to let her daughter go with her because she wished to celebrate Palm Sunday along with her daughter and other family members at her own home.
Today her mother,Bashiran Bibi along with her one another daughter came to Mr.Gill and told that she was recaptured by the Muslim Landlord from whom clutches was escaped.A 56 years old mother wept bitterly and again requested to Mr.Gill for possible legal and moral assistance.

Christian women in Pakistan are often seen as easy targets because of the low social status given to them due to their gender and religious identity.Women from Pakistan's religious minorities are abducted, forcefully married, and forcefully converted to Islam. The disturbing trend continues to go under reported by LEAD and other groups and has not been resisted by the international community who is speaking on behalf of religious minorities in Pakistan.A large number of women continue to face this abuse in Pakistan in every year.

In these days LEAD is also working on one another case of forced conversion and is striving for her safe return to home and reunion with her family and the possible success is expected to be done on Monday.

LEAD request the international community and the groups who are supporting the victims and survivors, please stand with us and encourage and strengthen our work by standing with us.
