KASUR: Today January 24,2016,a Christian man ,Patras Hanif ,father of five children, victim of religious harassment at work place by religious Extremists reach to Sardar Mushtaq Gill,Human Rights Defender for legal assistance.
Patras is working at Century Board and Paper Mills situated at Multan Road 60 KM away from Lahore from last four years. He is being en-forcefully preached by his co-workers and forced to accept Islam and on his refusal harassed by them.
"They often say that Christians are 'Kafirs' infidels and will go to hell.I know if I will say something about their faith then they will charge me in blasphemy law,"told Hanif.
"I know nothing to do with them except to bear all things silently for my job sake and my safety. Finally I decided to seek help from you," he said to Mr.Gill.
"Extremism plus hatred and faith based animosity equals persecution.Christians are victims of this kind of Islamic preaching in Pakistan. It is systematically being used to make clean sweep of Christianity and other faiths from Pakistan by the hands of Extremists," said Sardar Mushtaq Gill,Human Rights Defender.
"Extremism with its violent dispositions,is the cause of religious minorities' exodus from Pakistan. To end it,Islamic Religious and political leadership must publicly discourage Extremists and take themselves initiative for religious harmony programs, but here Ravi river flows from South to North,"added Mr.Gill.
Pakistan should be a secular state if we really see her a place where every citizen live and enjoy equal rights for his progress and the authorities should eradicate elements of religious extremism and its roots. It is not only discrimination but also religious persecution but only it is felt by those who are victims of this extremism.
